Final Day at the 67th International Divers Day Rostock

The first final of the day was the women's synchronized diving from the 3-meter springboard. Five pairs competed, aiming not only to execute their dives precisely but also to achieve the highest possible level of synchronization. In synchronized diving, the judges have different evaluation tasks: four assess the technical execution of the dive, while five evaluate the synchronization. And they had plenty to see – just like the audience, which filled the hall punctually for the first final. Among the spectators was Stefanie Drese, Minister for Social Affairs, Health, and Sport.

The athletes delivered top-class performances, which was reflected not only in the individual scores but also in the overall rankings, highlighting the high level of competition in Rostock. The scores were often very close, keeping the competition exciting throughout all five rounds. In the end, Nadezhda Trifonova and Uliana Kliueva, competing for the Neutral Athletes, secured the gold medal. Silver went to the British team of Evie Smith and Matilda Brown, while Ivana Medkova and Tereza Jelinkova from the Czech Republic took bronze.

Jumping from the 10-meter platform already requires great courage. But platform diving demands more than just bravery: athletes must execute twists and somersaults with precision—either tucked or stretched. In synchronized diving, they must also perform these elements in perfect unison with their partner. Perhaps this is why only three women's teams participated in the 10-meter synchronized event. However, there was no shortage of excitement. The athletes delivered outstanding performances, rewarded with high scores from the judges and enthusiastic applause from the audience.

To give the sports fans in the hall some insightful background information, Lutz Buschkow, President of the International Divers Day Rostock e.V., spontaneously took the microphone and explained some of the scoring details. The short breaks paid off: the teams were only a few points apart, making for a thrilling competition. In the end, Anna Konanykhina and Aleksandra Kedrina, representing the Neutral Athletes, extended their lead and won gold. Silver went to Sofiia Vystavkina and Sofia Esman from Ukraine, while Julianne Boisvert and Renée Batalla from Canada secured bronze.

The last final of the 67th International Divers Day Rostock was the men's individual event from the 10-meter platform. Earlier in the day, the audience had already followed the exciting preliminary rounds and semifinals. To close the tournament, the men gave it their all and achieved impressive scores. The judges rewarded outstanding dives with individual scores of up to 9.5 points, while the spectators celebrated the spectacular performances with enthusiastic applause.

In platform diving, not only are rotations and twists crucial, but so are body control and a clean water entry—with as little splash as possible. After the first two rounds, only 18.3 points separated first and sixth place. The entire competition was marked by constant lead changes, keeping the outcome uncertain until the very last dive. The athletes and the audience eagerly awaited the final scores on the scoreboard.

A wave of cheers erupted as Jaden Eikermann extended his lead from the fifth round and claimed gold for Germany. Silver went to Benjamin Cutmore from Great Britain, while Nikita Shleikher won bronze for the Neutral Athletes.

For the grand finale of the 67th International Divers Day Rostock, the popular show group "The Funny Divers" performed once again. This tradition delights young and old alike every year and once again provided a perfect conclusion to the event. We extend our gratitude to all athletes, sponsors, volunteers, and spectators for an unforgettable event!
