The International Divers Day Rostock is officially underway! Over the next four days, athletes and spectators alike can look forward to exciting competitions. With participants from 17 nations, the event promises top-tier athletic performances and captivating moments. In addition to thrilling competitions, guests can enjoy a diverse supporting program. Food and beverages are also available: visitors can indulge in a selection of culinary delights in the magnificent Marble Hall.
The first day of competition began with the men's preliminary round from the 3-meter springboard. A total of 32 participants competed for a spot in the semifinals. Each athlete had six dives to prove their skills. It quickly became clear: nothing was certain. The leaderboard changed with every dive. While overall scores were often close, individual scores varied greatly – ranging from zero to 84 points. Between dives, the athletes used their breaks in different ways: some focused with headphones, others stretched or kept their muscles warm. After a total of 192 dives, the 12 semifinalists were determined.
A&O

Following the first competition, the official opening ceremony took place. Two athletes from each of the 17 participating nations represented their countries. Lutz Buschkow, President of the International Divers Day Rostock e.V., welcomed athletes, officials, sponsors, supporters, and the audience. Gordon Peterson, a delegate from World Aquatics, also addressed the attendees, wishing the athletes success and thanking the organizing team for their outstanding preparation. As per tradition, the event was inaugurated with the opening dive: young athletes from WSC Rostock, ranging from grades 2 to 5, jumped into the water from various heights.
The sporting action continued immediately with the women's platform diving preliminary round. Fourteen highly focused athletes stepped onto the platform. Through five rounds, they executed their dives, aiming for a spot among the best to advance to the semifinals. The scores were sometimes incredibly close, meaning a single dive could change everything. Strong early performances already hinted that the level of competition would rise even further in the upcoming rounds.
With this successful kickoff, the foundation for a spectacular sporting event has been laid. The coming days promise more thrilling competitions and unforgettable moments. Rostock is ready for an unforgettable Diving Day experience!
